CITIZENSHIP CLASSES

Before registering please review the eligibility requirements.

• Be at least 18 years of age at the time you file the application;
• Have been a lawful permanent resident for the past three or five years (depending on which naturalization category you are applying under);
• Have continuous residence and physical presence in the United States;
• Be able to read, write, and speak basic English;
• Demonstrate good moral character;
• Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of U.S. history and government;
• Demonstrate a loyalty to the principles of the U.S. Constitution; and
• Be willing to take the Oath of Allegiance.

CITIZENSHIP CLASS | Once students have reached Level 4 or higher in ESL, they have the option to join this class to prepare for the U.S. Citizenship exam. Expert instructors cover the topics necessary for students to pass written and oral portions of the U.S. Citizenship exam. The text for the course, Citizenship Now, also guides students through the various steps, the necessary forms, and the documentation they must provide as part of the naturalization process. Classes are two hours long and meet twice a week for 16 weeks. Citizenship is available during the Fall and Spring semesters. Citizenship classes begin on Agosto 22nd.

CLASE DE CIUDADANÍA | Una vez que los estudiantes hayan alcanzado el nivel 4 o superior en ESL, tienen la opción de unirse a esta clase para prepararse para el examen de ciudadanía estadounidense. Instructores expertos cubren los temas necesarios para que los estudiantes aprueben las partes escritas y orales del examen de ciudadanía estadounidense. El texto del curso, Citizenship Now, también guía a los estudiantes a través de los diversos pasos, los formularios necesarios y la documentación que deben proporcionar como parte del proceso de naturalización. Las clases duran dos horas y se reúnen dos veces por semana durante 16 semanas. La ciudadanía está disponible durante los semestres de otoño y primavera. Las clases de ciudadanía comienzan el 22 de agosto.
