Tiger Bass Series Set For Hampton Lake September 29;
Proceeds Again to Support Bluffton Self Help
The Tiger Bass Series, which includes the 5th Annual Running Event and 2nd Annual Fishing Tournament, will be action packed nearly all day Saturday, September 29th at Bluffton’s Hampton Lake. The day long activities will be co-sponsored by David Weekley Homes and Hampton Lake. Proceeds will support Bluffton Self Help — a local non-profit organization which serves families throughout the area who encounter unexpected financial emergencies.
This year’s racing component has been organized by Palmetto Running Company of Bluffton. It will feature a 12K (7.5 mile) trail and road cross-country race, as well as a 5K road race plus a 1 mile Fun Run/Walk.
Catherine Guscio, Director of Fun at Hampton Lake, said “this year’s racing has been expanded to include the cross country competition over several miles of Hampton Lake’s nature trails and wooden boardwalks to take advantage of the unique terrain and views that our lakeside community offers.” Both the 12K cross country race and the 5K race will begin at 9 am with the Fun Walk/Run to follow a few minutes later. There will be an after-race party with music, raffles and snacks along with awards and medals given out to top finishers by age group.
The fishing tournament begins at dawn and continues throughout the day until 3pm followed by a weigh-in and awards ceremony. Tournament teams will consist of two anglers per boat or a single angler in a kayak. Cost is $75 per boat team or $40 per kayak. Space may be limited based on availability. Contact Chris Collins at David Weekley Homes for more information and to sign up for the tournament at 843.757.7030.
“The Tiger Bass Series has become a signature event for Hampton Lake because of the strong participation and enthusiasm by its attendees, owners and volunteers,” said Guscio. “Last year the event raised nearly $15,000. David Weekley Homes will be matching the proceeds from the events again this year.”
Entry fees for the 12K and 5K are $30 for pre-registration and $35 on race day for participants ages 13 and over, with the price including race packets and t-shirts. The 1-mile Fun Run/Walk costs $15 for participants ages 13 and over, with t-shirts available for an additional purchase. Youngsters 12 and under are free.
Guscio said participants may register on line at www.tigerbassrun.com . Race packets may be picked up at Palmetto Running Company, 22 Plantation Park Drive, Suite 103 from 4 pm to 7 pm on Friday, September 28th. Registration on the day of the race is from 7 am to 8 am in the Amenity Village in Hampton Lake. Contact her for more information, 843.836.7463.
