Why do you choose to volunteer at BSH?
I have grown up in a family that believes strongly in giving back to the community in which we live. I was drawn to Bluffton Self Help because it is a local organization that is making a huge impact on the community.
What has been your biggest “take away” from your time here?
The biggest takeaway from my time at Bluffton Self Help is that helping others is truly rewarding. Small actions can have significant positive impacts on the lives of others.
How do you think this experience will benefit you in the future?
Bluffton Self Help is really my first real job. I am learning about responsibility. I have to be on time and complete all of the tasks I have been assigned. I have also learned how important being part of a team is at work. Each of us must work together to do our part or we will let the clients down. These are skills that will help me in the future.
Is there a moment, a memory or a client that stands out for you?
The memory that stands out for me is when I was assigned to distribute the food bags to clients on Thursdays. It was heart warming to see how happy the clients were to receive the food.
