Trudy’s Path to Success

For some, the pandemic changed the trajectory of their lives forever. 1 in 3 of the neighbors that reached out to Bluffton Self Help over the past two years faced food insecurity and financial hardship for the first time. Neighbors, like Trudy. During the pandemic, Trudy became a single mother of two adult sons and had to restart her life. Trudy, who relied on a fixed disability income after being a dental hygienist for years couldn’t afford to live without a second income. Her youngest son lived with her and together they made it through, until her son lost his job. It only took a few life changing events, and a few months to turn their world upside down.
