The Williams family was referred to BSH by a social worker from a Bluffton elementary school. Their eleven-year-old son required emergency oral surgery, as an infection in his tooth threatened his jawbone and, by extension, his bloodstream. The procedure, involving sedation, extraction and follow-up care, was beyond the means of the family. BSH pledged to pay for the surgery which was scheduled for the next morning.
