Today was a very special day indeed at Bluffton Self Help. We opened the doors of 39 Sheridan Circle, the location of our new and unfinished building, for the media and key donors to preview. In a daytime event for media, and evening event for key donors, Board Chairperson Peter Bromley, Executive Director Lili Coleman, board members, volunteers and staff welcomed our “first visitors” and shared our story of appreciation for the many donors, grantors, and organizations who allowed BSH to purchase the building with cash. For more about the story, see our press release here.
While many events like this offer fancy food and drink, BSH offered only water and soft drinks, to reinforce our commitment to spending our donor’s investments wisely. According to Courtney Hampson, event chairperson, “The board chose to do the right thing and in the process saved about $1500 in food and beverage costs that can instead be used to serve our clients”.
