National Stamp Out Hunger day will be observed Saturday May 14.
Sponsored by the National Association of Letter Carriers, the annual drive
will locally support Bluffton Self Help.
Last year the food collected on this drive helped keep our pantry full
during the lean summer months when food donations typically decline.
This year, with more people asking for food, we really need your help!
Thanks to our Postal Carriers!
Tony Ciervo, BSH chairman for the event, praises local carriers, saying “The
Bluffton Post Office and its carriers are great partners to us. The carriers
work very hard that day, getting in and out of their cars to lift heavybags.
It’salongdayforthem but they never complain.”
Here’s how you can get involved:
* Place non-perishable food products in a plastic or brown paper bag.
* Leave at your mailbox on Saturday, May 14.
* Your letter carrier will pick it up and deliver it to us.
* Don’t forget to remind your neighbors!
Suggested items include:
* canned meats and fish
* hearty soups
* canned vegetables
* boxed potatoes or rice
* pasta and sauce
* peanut butter and jelly
* cereals
* bagged rice and beans.
