The parents of two elementary age children came seeking assistance with their rent. They were facing eviction and the court hearing was in two weeks! They had a portion of the rent, but the landlord could only accept the total amount in order to cancel the court date and stop the eviction. Both parents were hard workers having over three years each with their places of employment. But with a decline in business during the winter season, their hours had been recently reduced and they did not have the entire month’s rent. Thankfully, the dad had just secured an additional part time job to help supplement the family’s income, but he would not receive his first paycheck from his new employer for almost three weeks! Bluffton Self Help was able to pay the remaining balance of their rental fee and stop the eviction process.
