Relationships + Conversations
Last Spring, I met Dave to put together a plan in creating a video (or two) to help tell the Bluffton Self Help story. During the meeting, it became clear that Dave was passionate about giving back to the community.
When I asked why he chose to support Bluffton Self Help he said, “It’s simple. I’m jealous. I see groups like yours and Second Helpings and the commitment it takes to make a difference in our community and I’m in awe of the effort. I think when life settles down I will have the time to take a more hands-on role but work keeps me dancing.”
But, Dave is already making a difference in our community and in the lives of others. He is raising awareness around the impossible choices our neighbors face, breaking the stigma of asking for help, sharing how Red Apron volunteers make a difference every day, and why community partners and local companies are choosing to not ignore the crisis our communities face and stepping up to the plate to do something about it.
Why does Dave choose to give back? It makes him feel good. “I have a skill set that helps corporations and broadcast companies put out an effective message. I really enjoy helping groups tell their story and/or get their message out. Every year I commit to doing some good and to give back and when I can take that skill set to help organizations that are doing good work to make our community a better place to live for everyone and to help those that need it the most, it just makes my heart feel good” he said.
Dave’s company Timeline Productions’ website spells out their motto “Content Creation That Gets Results” and further explains their success, “Longevity is earned with passion and commitment to every project and every client. TLP has managed to remain a leader in the region by developing and maintaining relationships with our clients spanning years.”
These words couldn’t be more true. Success is built on relationships and some of the most important relationships to Bluffton Self Help’s mission are those with our neighbors and our community partners. Building trust and working together for a common goal are a part of everything Bluffton Self Help does. Our vision of building communities full of opportunities for all begins and ends with relationships, with stories. Our mission would not be possible without either.
As I watched our volunteers, our board members, community partners, and neighbors take their turn sitting in the chair, under bright lights and cameras, I watched Dave effortlessly help them open up. I admired his ability to create conversation. He lugged his camera into The Market, TheResource Hub, The Learning & Literacy Center and drove down the bumpy dirt roads, and delivered groceries. As he met with all of our neighbors, I listened to how Bluffton Self Help has impacted each of their lives and I knew the final product would be a powerful one. And I wasn’t wrong.
Check out some of Dave’s videos on our Youtube page and stay tuned this year to see more of Timeline Productions’ work on our website, social media and communications. And check out some of their other community projects on their website.
Timeline Productions’ mission is to “move the needle for our clients.” A mission we can get behind. Thank you for helping to move the needle forward for Bluffton Self Help and Lowcountry neighbors.
