Jackie and Kathy | Volunteer Spotlight

Jackie and Kathy started as ESL co-tutors at our Learning and Literacy Center in Hardeeville. Together they tutored multiple students, helping them move on to the next level. Due to their success as a duo, they agreed to teach their own classes and then … a COVID spike derailed their plan. Not to be stopped, Jackie and Kathy stepped up to the plate and helped each other navigate virtual learning and student absences creating a learning environment where students of various levels could learn together. They provide the tools for students to learn, but they also help facilitate peer relationships and support while learning English. Bluffton Self Help is beyond grateful to have exceptional, adaptable, and dedicated tutors like Jackie and Kathy.
