BLUFFTON, S.C. (WTOC) – A fast-growing Lowcountry nonprofit is furthering its commitment to the community.
Bluffton Self Help just finished an extensive data collection, that showed there are more people in the area need help than those that don’t need it.
“We really wanted to understand the needs of the community and what was behind some of the services that we were offering and so part of the information that came back is pretty shocking,” Kimberly Hall, Executive Director, Bluffton Self Help said.
They’ve been serving the Bluffton area for decades, but these numbers inspired change.
“We knew with this data that we had to take a very strategic approach and really transform the way that we’re offering human services right here,” Hall said.
While known for their food pantry and market, the organization says they’ll be funding more long-term help for community members moving forward. And they’re not shying away from the price tag.
“We’re here for the community by the community and this additional million dollars that were investing in case management, client advocacy, and really this wholistic approach is our commitment to this community to help advance people along their pathways,” Hall said.
