A LETTER FROM OUR BOARD CHAIR, DOUG ADAMSON
Dear Community,
Throughout these unprecedented times brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Bluffton Self Help (BSH) staff along with a team of faithful volunteers have continued to provide food and financial assistance, without interruption, to our area’s neighbors in need. While continuing these critical services, the staff along with others from our Board of Directors have been meeting regularly to discern and plan for the next version of Bluffton Self Help.
That work has focused on three areas: (1) redoubling ourcommitment to the greater Bluffton area while strategically expanding BSH’s reach into the Southern Lowcountry Region, (2) expanding our mission and programs in order to help break the cycle of poverty and the barriers to success and self-sufficiency, and (3) building on the success of our Education and Resource Center, and adding new programs and partners in order to increase our focus on empowering, mentoring and advocating for individuals and families to improve their lives and livelihoods.
Over the next several months, we will be rolling out a series of new initiatives to accomplish these things. This new Path Forward for Bluffton Self Help will build on our 34 years as a critical resource in the greater Bluffton community, and strengthen and formalize our network of partnering agencies, area leaders, donors and volunteers. Together we will help build a community of opportunity that will provide a strong foundation of high-quality services fostering good health, personal development, job placement, financial stability and career advancement. Soon, we will be inviting you to join us in this important work. We look forward to our work together.
