At Bluffton Self Help, we know that financial hardship is rarely a standalone issue. It’s often the first crisis a neighbor is forced to name; however, behind it are layers tied to employment, basic needs, and family stability.
That’s why we are grateful for the partnership of Women in Philanthropy, whose 2025 grant initiative—Bridging the Gap: Employment, Basic Needs, and Family Stability—aligns closely with the realities our neighbors face every day.
Women in Philanthropy is a collective of more than 200 women committed to strengthening communities across Beaufort County through thoughtful, collaborative giving. Since its founding in 2003, the organization has invested millions in local nonprofits, supporting solutions that create lasting impact for individuals and families.
Their recent support through a generous grant, awarded last month, directly strengthens our Emergency Financial Assistance program—ensuring that neighbors experiencing urgent and unforeseen hardship can remain safely housed and move forward with stability. In 2025, we provided over $119,000 in assistance, supporting 132 families across our community.
But the impact goes beyond numbers.
Through one-on-one conversations with Client Advocates, neighbors gain access to a broader network of support that helps move families from immediate need toward long-term stability.
We are proud to partner with Women in Philanthropy—an organization that understands real change happens when communities invest not just in needs, but in stability, dignity, and the ability for families to move forward.
