Education is a significant factor when it comes to income and serves as a strong predictor for poverty. In Beaufort County, 28% of people who have not completed high school live below the poverty line. In Jasper County, that number is 25%.
This year, Bluffton Self Help will offer more than a dozen classes and workshops to 300+ adult learners to improve literacy, gain skills, attain better employment and reach personal success. Each of our adult students and their families have Client Advocates available to them to help overcome any additional barriers they may face including meeting their basic needs, finding better employment, and navigating the benefits and resources available to them. We walk alongside all of our neighbors to ensure they are moving forward to reach their goals.
Education requires investment. Investment from our neighbors, from Bluffton Self Help, our local businesses, and from you, our community. Bluffton Self Help invests more than $1,200 per student each year to help them achieve their success. Your investment will help us continue to reach more students in innovative and encouraging ways. Just $100 a month can pave the path to success through education.
Thank you
for being here right along with us to ensure that everyone in our community has the resources they need to thrive.
Your investment today provides our adult students with caring, trained staff, and volunteer tutors. It provides books and materials, technology, and innovative programs that move students from crisis, to stability and onto success. It also supports infrastructure that gives our students a safe and dignified learning environment and a team committed to being efficient and effective while advocating for our students.
Most importantly, your investment helps our more than 300 students reach their goals. Whether that is to get a job that pays a livable wage, earn a GED diploma or become a U.S. citizen. These accomplishments and so many more are transforming lives for generations, creating economic well-being and a better community for all.
