Our Basic Needs services are often the first step on one’s path to success by helping neighbors stretch their budgets and meet their basic needs. Because, we know individuals must first have their basic needs met before they can truly start to succeed.
The Market
The Market provides neighbors with healthy, nutritious groceries once a week to stretch their budget, promote a healthy life and fuel to succeed. On average, families save $400 a month on food and necessities. Through The Market neighbors also receive hygiene items, cleaning supplies, diapers and clothing.
Market Eligibility
Open to ALL Bluffton (29910/29909) residents,
Residents of Beaufort County (excluding HHI) and Jasper County who are working in Bluffton
Residents of Hardeeville (29927) and Ridgeland (29936) receiving either Social Security Retirement/Disability benefits
Proof of residency and/or Bluffton employment required
The Market
Bluffton Self Help neighbors are welcome to come into The Market to shop once a week to pick out fresh produce, meat, dairy, bread, desserts and non-perishable items.
Market Hours:
Monday 4pm-6pm
Wednesday 10am-12pm & 4pm–6pm
Friday 10am-12pm
Grocery Pick-up
Grocery pick-up once a week for pre-bagged groceries including meat, milk, produce, and non-perishables is available for those who meet the assistance requirements. Please call 843-757-8000 for more information.
Pick-up Hours: Mondays 4–6 pm
Mobile Market
Bluffton Self Help offers home delivery services once a week for pre-bagged groceries to neighbors who are either homebound due to medical reasons or do not have transportation. This service may be offered on either a temporary or permanent basis. To apply, please call 843-757-8000 to complete a questionnaire and be added to the delivery schedule.
CLOTHING
12pm Our Clothing Closet provides gently used workwear, children’s clothes, and uniforms to our neighbors who may shop twice per month. By providing this essential service, neighbors can access professional wear for interviews and new jobs giving them the look for success.
Neighbors may not use other market cards for clothing.
Clothing Hours: Tuesdays & Thursdays 10am-2pm, Wednesdays 4-6pm (verified working neighbors only.)
Diaper Program
Pick up only during posted food and clothing market hours.
HYGIENE ITEMS AND CLEANING SUPPLIES
The Market provides opportunities to shop for hygiene items such as shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, and toothbrushes.
Client Advocate/Resource Coordination
– Collaborate to identify long and short term steps to accomplish your goals.
– Make referrals to community resources.
– Address critical needs for health care, housing, or food.
– Provide guidance with benefit, unemployment and housing applications.
– Advocate on your behalf.
– Assist with education and training applications and BSH course registration.
– Assess personal strengths to develop career path.
– Assist with resume building and job searches.
– Provide ongoing support and guidance.

Educational Scholarships

Emergency Financial Assistance is available to help prevent homelessness, keep the utilities on, or to get neighbors through other life crises.

Holiday Programs
The holidays can bring added financial stress, our holiday programs help to bring the magic of Christmas morning to children and bring families together around the table during the holidays throughout the year.

Holiday Toy Shop
Open to all Beaufort, Jasper, Hampton or Colleton County residents with children up to 12.

Teacher Supplies
Each year we work with local schools to provide teachers with items to fill their classrooms without emptying their wallets.
School Snack Program
The School Snack program provides all 10 Bluffton schools with snacks so teachers can focus on teaching and students can focus on learning. The Snack Closets are restocked throughout the entire school year.
