Kim Bart began volunteering at Bluffton Self Help in October of 2022. During this time, she quickly distinguished herself as an intelligent, organized, reliable team member, as well as a strong leader. To this point, Kim served as a lead volunteer on every major drive during 2023. During the May Stock the Market event, Kim assisted the team in developing and implementing the sorting system that allowed us to process over 27,000 pounds of shelf stable foods. Similarly, for our School Supply drive, Kim was one of a few volunteers who worked on sorting through thousands of donated items, assigning them a category, and counting them so we could fairly distribute them to the schools. And, during the holidays, Kim lent us her organizational skills and cool head under pressure to process both Thanksgiving donations and holiday toys. Outside of these events, Kim can always be counted on to jump in for an open shift (or two, or three) when they appear in the weekly newsletter. Distribution, warehouse, replenishment, or a special event, Kim’s flexibility and adaptability have been wonderful assets to fill any needs Bluffton Self Help has. This willingness to serve shows in the data; despite being on-call without a regular shift, Kim ranked in the top 20 volunteers for hours served in 2023. Other volunteers and the BSH staff enjoy working with Kim due to her witty sense of humor and fun energy. For all these reasons and more, we want to recognize Kim Bart. Thank you, Kim, we’re all so happy and so grateful to have you as a Red Apron volunteer!
