Stock the Market Saturday

More than 850 families relied on The Market at Bluffton Self Help to put food on the table last year. As the cost of living continues to rise so does the need. So far this year, 40 new families are turning to us for help each month. Paychecks are not stretching as far and many have lost $100-$250 worth of monthly SNAP benefits, leaving them with impossible choices.

The rising prices of groceries have not only affected our neighbors but also our supporters and our local businesses. Bluffton Self Help is also not immune to the rising costs of eggs, milk, and meat to provide our neighbors with the food they need. Worse yet, summer is right around the corner- a challenging time for The Market, the donations slow down, and with school out, the need soars.

The Market is in dire need of most of our basic needs and our warehouse is almost depleted. Lowcountry households will rely on The Market to shop for more than 8,000 bags filled with groceries this summer. And we are relying on our community to help us get through the difficult summer months.

We will open our doors on Saturday, May 13th from 9am-1pm and hold our annual Stock the Market food drive.

We are asking for the support of our community on May 13th and during the month of May to help ensure no Lowcountry neighbor is hungry.

FIVE WAYS TO GIVE BACK 

Everyone can help to fill the need and ensure no Lowcountry neighbor has to wonder where their next meal is coming from. 

 1. Get your neighborhood, business, or group involved by hosting a drive.

2. Drop off a few most needed items.

Donations are accepted Monday-Friday 10 am-4 pm around the back of the building at The Market, 39 Sheridan Park Circle, Bluffton.  

3. Make a financial donation online or by mail, PO Box 2420, Bluffton, SC 29910

4. Share the need with the community on social media or NextDoor, in your business or neighborhood.

5. Participate or volunteer for the Stock The Market event on Saturday, May 13th.Volunteer for a shift or stop by between 9am-1pm with some of the most needed items to help stock the shelves with 120,000lbs of groceries.
