Bluffton Self Help is honored to be named the 2025 Non-Profit of the Year and recipient of the 2025 Pearl Award by the Greater Bluffton Chamber of Commerce.
These awards recognize organizations that deliver measurable impact, effective leadership, and strategic collaboration across Bluffton’s nonprofit and business community. We accept this recognition as a reflection of the broader system that makes stability possible in our region — volunteers, donors, community partners, and neighbors working together to keep our region strong.
Strengthening the Community’s Infrastructure
At Bluffton Self Help, our mission has always been about more than providing services. Every program, from The Market and Fresh Xpress pop-ups to Getting Ahead and workforce readiness workshops, is a building block in the infrastructure that keeps Lowcountry neighbors not just stabilized, but moving forward.
This recognition reflects the power of that infrastructure:
- Volunteers who ensure programs run smoothly and consistently
- Donors who invest in long-term solutions rather than short-term fixes
- Partners who intentionally collaborate with us to address complex, interconnected community needs
- Neighbors who trust us during challenging seasons, enabling early intervention before crises escalate
Our work doesn’t exist in isolation. By collaborating with organizations like Bluffton Jasper Volunteers in Medicine and Lowcountry Legal Volunteers, we help ensure that every household has access not only to food, but to healthcare, legal support, and the resources that prevent small gaps from becoming a major crisis.
What the Pearl Award Represents
The Pearl Award, one of the Chamber’s highest honors, recognizes organizations that deliver extraordinary and lasting impact across the community. Selected through a merit-based review process by Chamber professionals from across the country, the award highlights leaders whose work strengthens Bluffton strategically, not just symbolically.
More than 70 nominations were submitted this year, and Bluffton Self Help was proud to be recognized alongside other organizations whose work reinforces the interconnected stability of the region.
“The Golden Oyster Awards celebrate the individuals and organizations that embody the spirit of our business community,” said Natalie Osterman, CEO of the Greater Bluffton Chamber of Commerce. “These honorees represent the passion, resilience, and collaboration that continue to drive Bluffton forward.”
Looking Ahead
While we are incredibly proud of this recognition, our focus remains on the work ahead. Community needs continue to evolve, and Bluffton Self Help is committed to meeting them with strategic planning, innovative solutions, and strong partnerships necessary to pave a pathway to success, for our neighbors and our community.
This recognition belongs to everyone who strengthens our community’s stability system — volunteers, donors, partners, and the families we serve. Together, we are not just responding to need; we are building a stronger, more resilient Lowcountry.
