Bob, nearly deaf, and his wife, who suffers from Alzheimer’s, were content living a simple life until an infestation threatened the integrity of their home. A family friend recognized the issue at hand and stepped in to help by gathering information on extermination options. Unfortunately, the cost for proper treatment far exceeded the couple’s limited social security income. Not to be deterred, the family’s advocate connected with a Client Advocate at Bluffton Self Help and, together, they coordinated with local charities – along with The Department of Social Services – to collaboratively cover the extermination costs. Friends also rallied around the couple, providing food, support, and reassurance. With assistance and collaboration from invaluable community resources, Bob and his wife were able to reclaim their beloved home and resume important daily routines with dignity, comfort, and independence.
