A Hefty Response to BSH SOS!
When the SOS goes out, the BSH community delivers! Thank you ALL for your generosity and quick response.
Since the news of our empty shelves was reported last week in the Island Packet, thousands of pounds were delivered to BSH this week. When asked what supplies are still needed, John Orth, BSH VP explained, “We have received hundreds of cans of vegetables, which we needed, and are grateful for. But we are still very low on boxed cereals, peanut butter, jelly, pasta sauces, and paper goods.”
So, if you did not get a chance to deliver a bag to BSH this week, please consider stopping by next week with these needed items.
Julie Del Guercio, Asst Director, added, “We never have enough toilet paper, paper towels, baby wipes, diapers, soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste. For example, if we get toilet paper donated, we can only provide a roll or two per person. Paper goods and toiletries are items that are NOT covered by food stamps.”
Thanks again, BSH community. You are the best.
